We are The Breakup Bible. We collect information you give us (your email, what you read, how you use the site) to make the experience personal and useful. We do not sell your data. We use trusted third-party services to run the site. You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your data at any time. This policy explains the details.

2. What this policy covers
This policy covers personal information we collect through our website at https://thebreakupbible.app/. If you use our mobile app, please also read the In-App Privacy Policy, which covers app-specific features including Luma (our AI companion), mood check-ins, journals, cycle tracking, and in-app purchases.
The Breakup Bible is available internationally. We apply the privacy rights and protections relevant to your location, including the Australian Privacy Principles, GDPR/UK-GDPR, and CCPA/CPRA.
3. Information we collect and why
3.1 Information you give us directly

3.3 Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and Microsoft Clarity to understand how people use our website. These tools collect anonymised or pseudonymised behavioural data. We use this to improve our content and fix problems, not to identify you individually.
You can opt out of GA4 tracking using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. Microsoft Clarity's data practices are described in Microsoft's Privacy Statement.
4. Legal basis for processing (GDPR / UK-GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on the following lawful bases:
- Contract: to provide the service you signed up for
- Legitimate interests: to understand how people use our site and improve it, to keep our systems secure, to communicate with you about your account
- Consent: for non-essential cookies and marketing communications (you can withdraw consent at any time)
- Legal obligation: where the law requires us to retain certain records
If you are in Australia, we comply with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in these circumstances.

7. How long we keep your information

When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to keep it by law.

You have the right to:

- Export your data in a portable format
- Withdraw consent for processing based on consent (e.g. marketing emails)
- Object to or restrict certain types of processing

Australian users: If you are not satisfied with our response, you can lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or by calling 1300 363 992.
EEA/UK users: You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. In the UK, that is the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
9. International transfers
We are based in Australia. Some of our service providers are located in other countries, including the United States. Where we transfer personal information outside Australia or the EEA, we take steps to ensure it is protected to an equivalent standard, for example, by using providers that participate in approved frameworks or by entering into standard contractual clauses.
10. Security
We use industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS) and encryption at rest. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
11. Links to other websites
Our website may contain links to third-party sites. This policy does not cover those sites. We encourage you to read their privacy policies before sharing any information with them.
12. Minimum age
Our website and app are intended for people aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a person under 16 has provided us with their information, please contact us and we will delete it.

If we make significant changes, we will notify you by email or by posting a notice on the website. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version.
